Clarke and Sue invited Patti and I for a few days on Otter Reef, about 30 miles offshore from Cardwell.  You can see Hinchinbrook Island dimly on the horizon.  Most of the outer reef has very little above the water.  The dark areas are coral formations.  As you're maneuvering your boat, you have to make sure the coral is far enough below the surface so it doesn't gash your hull.
