The Cardwell Art Gallery operates as a sort of co-op for artists in the region.  The quality of the work is quite good because Cardwell seems to draw many talented artists who want to live a simpler lifestyle.  Patti was so impressed that she volunteered to run the shop for a half-day each week and ended up as secretary of the organization ("secretary" is one of the three officers, not a clerical position).  She also sewed the colorful flags you see on the flagpoles.  It has been great for us because it has brought us in contact with a segment of the local community that other Port Hinchinbrook residents never meet.
