The Wompoo Fruit-Dove is the biggest and most spectacular of the Fruit-Doves.  Their breast is actually a deep purple plus bright white, yellow, green, blue, and white patches.  We've heard them much more often than we've seen them.  Their name comes from their call.  They sit high up in the tops of trees and call out "Wom-POO".  It's not really loud but it carries a long ways.  This one is in a low tree on a back trail near Cooktown in the far far north.
