The Rainbow Lorikeet is a small parrot.  We just couldn't believe it when we first saw him.  How could one bird have so many striking colors?  And yet it is one of the most common birds.  We see flocks of them in our area but they seem to be most common along the waterfronts in some of the cities we've been in.  Cairns has thousands of them along the waterfront, flying from tree to tree in great excitement, chirping and screeching loudly.
