The Black Cockatoos are very entertaining birds, kind of comical.  They are the largest of the cockatoos, which are part of the parrot family.  This one is a Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo but actually only the males have the red tail.  The females have yellow in them.  They have very powerful beaks and seek out certain nut trees where they will sit and crack nuts all day, making a huge mess under the trees.  They have a very raucous cry (not as noisy as the Sulphur-Crested) and Patti has become very attuned to them.   They often flock in the trees near us and we always get a kick out of watching them.
