After our visit to Chillagoe, we drove north on the new highway to Cooktown, several hours north of Cairns and the end of the paved road going north.  In fact, they had only just completed the paving of a long stretch of the highway so finally there's an all-weather route to Cooktown.   This little Chestnut-Breasted Cuckoo lived in a tree just outside the place we were staying, which is surrounded by rainforest (as is virtually all of Cooktown).
