The first time we saw a Brush Turkey, we thought it must be a rare bird.  But they're very common in forested areas.  They also seem to like to hang around campgrounds.  The males have a bright yellow wattle which hangs almost to the ground during mating season.  They're really lousy flyers.  We watched a funny display where a male was chasing two females who climbed up a log and finally flew clumsily across a creek to escape him.  He gamely tried to follow and barely made it across.  So they climbed another log and flew back!  He was still horny, though, and tried again.  It was really about the clumsiest display of flying I've ever seen.  Plus, you gotta admit they're pretty ridiculous-looking.
