Our nephew, John, is holding a baby Agile Wallaby in her "pouch".  This is Pearl, whose mother was killed.  She is being raised by Daryl and Geoff, registered caregivers who volunteer for this kind of thing.  I can't believe how many people we have met who have raised injured or abandoned wild animals.  Aussies are real suckers for animals.  If you really want to arouse public anger, abuse a dog or a cat.  They just won't put up with it.  Baby wallabies and kangaroos are kept in cloth pouches which are worn around the necks of the caregivers.  They have to take them everywhere with them.  They even sleep with them because they've just got to have that closeness and warmth.
