So what's a camel doing in the Australian Outback?  Well, there's actually as many as a hundred thousand of them.  But this was the first one we saw, when we were on our Outback RV trip.  I almost drove in the ditch when we saw him.  A long time ago, someone brought a small herd of a dozen or so from Arabia, thinking they would be ideal pack animals for the dry Outback.  It turned out they couldn't carry much because the ground was too rough for their feet.  So they let them go.  As it turned out, they thrived.
