After Malekula, we sailed to Pentecost Island, another place known for being pretty traditional.  It's also known as the place that invented bungee-jumping.  You may have seen those wooden towers where people jump off with only a vine connected to an ankle.  We didn't get to see that.  We anchored at Loltong.  You can see some of the village in the trees by the beach but several hundred people live in the area.  At these remote villages, it is REQUIRED that you immediately go ashore and find the village chief and ask for his permission to stay there.  The chiefs are all-powerful in their area and own the land under the bays.  They are the law and have the right to tell you to leave if they don't like your face or your behavior.
