Escapade is now back in the water after the mast was put back in.
You can also see one of the other major projects in this photo.
The new dinghy is hanging in the air from the back of the boat,
suspended by the new davits. We had a heavy-duty stainless-steel
arch designed and installed to support the davits, which also had a
platform on top (which you can't see) for four big solar panels to go
with the three small ones on the dodger. This improved our
electricity generation enormously. Inside the boat, we had all the
floors re-varnished - a huge job. We had a new instrument pod
designed and installed over the companionway and moved all the
instruments from next to the wheel. Now we could see the
instruments wherever we were in the cockpit. On cold wet rough
passages we didn't like to crawl to the back of the boat to see how deep
the water was. This was a major improvement. |
